the sp pads are fine for chopping melodies and such, but when i bang out drum patterns it feels like im going to break it. not to mention complex hihat parts are virtually impossible

trigger finger vs korg kontrol

which one has a sturdier feel? im leaning towards the trigger finger right now because ive used pads like those before but im interested to know more about the kontrol

I had the same problem a few days ago... I checked them both... the pad kontrol is def more into producing cause of the touch panel and it super soft pads. I picked up the TF though cause of it faders and knobs which are ideal for torq. I use the TF for everything now. Playing drums on the 404, programming midi tracks in reaper for sp drums, vsti shit and the main thang: my dj software torq (serato for poor people). I can set mark points on the fly and trigger them via the TF... on 2 Decks... Shit is more than wild!

So yeah if money ain't a issue and you don't need assignable faders and knobs go with the pad kontrol... though a TF gets the job done also...
Too bad these nanopads dont have midi out...

Hey and thanx for the looper links. Thats what I use my TF also for...

Love that shit for its 1000 ways to go with it! I said it before and I'm gonna repeat: Midi rulez! 8)

yea ive always worked with midi and bought the 555 half on accident half out of curiousity after a rapper broke my axiom 61 and am glad i did.

i picked up the TF because the padkontrol seems cheap and cheezy i dont need a touch screen or roll function. definately glad i picked up the tf, it was on sale new for 149 american.
its so much easier to get the beats out of your head when you can use two fingers per pad AND not having to worry about the darn thing snapping in two

ill def still be using my 555 to grab vinyl samples and mutate them before i throw them in ableton though.

a midi in would have been nice so i didnt have to use the midi thru on the sp and save a usb slot, but ill work arround it.

question: are there any programs for re-arranging the midi messages? because they are kind of all over the place. also how to use the transpose function?

nothing wrong with the padkontrol at all..

in fact its really great - once you add in the fact that you can run it in native mode and do all sorts of cool stuff.

I love mine..

It matches my blofeld too 8) And everyone knows if ur setup looks tight your beats sound better
