It's for people who want to make beats with a computer but consider being on stage with a laptop nerdy. I'd rather run Ableton Live with a pad controller, that thing is dumb large.

that thing is silly. if you REALLY need something like that might as well get the APC40 dedicated ableton controller http://www.ableton.com/touch

which is programmable to launch scenes or run as a full fledged sequencer

Bet it's just a laptop, audio interface, and midi controller rehoused. Seems like a waste of money and space. Especially considering you could fit all 3 in a backpack.

Openlabs Reaper is one of the best programs I've ever used, but their hardware if superfluous. Like Hema said, it would be very easy to make your own custom pc case to house a fresh audio interface and midi controller to run any DAW with you own FORAT type shine. That dedicated Ableton controller from NUkai is also lookin' fly.

That's what I am wondering about the Neko / Miko and other 'true' all-in-one beat machines as well. From what I read the Neko for sure isn't more than the sum of its parts, infact some components don't really work that well together.

In such cases I'd rather have a separate midi controller or fully fledged synth, separate sampler with a reasonable amount of power and go from there.

That Morris Hayes DBeat video is dope though.

I object to the way my boy Frankenstien was portrayed in the ad.
Who doesn't love connecting a bunch of different gear together with MIDI & 1/4", and then making it all work as if it was one?
I love my Franken-rig.

I'd cop one of those in MV style in a flash.

MPC one... perhaps someday.
