Mine was a korg ER-1 which I had grabbed cheaply, but I sold it. .wasn't really my thing.. the sounds were more electro-ish, decided a sampler would be better for my percussive needs..

which is what brought me to this place :P

So what broke your hardware cherry? (MIDI controllers dont count :P)

A roland jv-30 which I sequenced via a Gravis Ultrasound Card midi expansion box, with a badly cracked Cubase.

the 404 was my first hardware purchase, after messing with FL and Reason for a few years

even though I'm a 404 user now, I could never get rid of it my 2000xl. I have to get back to the classic feel of an mpc occasionally.

I always had crappy toy keyboards when I was young. First real gear was (and I shudder to think of it as real gear now) a Yamaha DJX keyboard and a Tascam Porta 02 4-track. Was fun for a 16 year old kid who knew crap about production.

Booyah! I like seeing that kind of stuff. Please, if you would, explain how you made it and what all it could do. Thanks

Mine was a microKORG, and my first hardware sampler was the 303. If you count audio recorders in this subject, then my MZ-N707 NetMD Walkman would be the first of all.
