that's a good vid actually. only thing is he does a good bit of effect changes which is where this machine is lacking. if you want to record real time cutoff changes that's fine but making a buildup over several patterns can be a hassle.

He def has spent some time with the machine. I like to build a good simple beat and then run it through the 303 and throw samples of talking and random shit in there with it. pretty fun. When i get my home comp running ill post up some of my stuff. If anyone else has some dr.groove made music please throw it up.

that guy seems to be pushing the 202 pretty hard... im not in love with everything he does here but some of it seems like he is pushing the box hard... then again i dont know a lot..[/quote]

yes, the buttons are hard, no velocity at all, but once punched into the sequencer it's all good....

You can get a lot of mileage out of the bass track with a keyboard midi'd up. I used to like to use the long 808 style kicks tuned to a few pitches in the normal drum track then use the bass part for a melody. It's surprising at how full the songs you can make with this box can be. Coupled with an SP, thug life indeed.

as far as pushing the machine hard i didnt mean in a physical way... more like pushing the limits of the machine as a boundry not in a pounding pads kind of way...

Yo I just got one of these yesterday. Not really familar with it yet but I noticed the overall volume of the box seems kindla low. And the pads need to be pushed hard - and I mean the physical way :)

Can't wait to learn more about this..

hi
i'm interested in this beast.
i like its total crap crusty look.
what i like too is that it seems you can really tweak fx with this machine.
can you make a review (or post some sounds) about its bass and ROLL?
i will appreciate!
cheers

thanx
i remeber i saw this one many months ago, but it's good to refresh ideas on Dr 202...
so this machine has good drums sounds really; for the bass: the video shows 3-4 type of it, not enough for me, but the tweakable possibilities are many...
good machine to pick if not cheap used. i have an akai xr20 wich has very good drums and some bass but you cannot tweak fx like this....like on akai mpc 500 1000 and 2000xl...
cheers

Hi again. I'm totally not qualified to write any review on this machine but overall I think it's nice. If you allready have Roland D2 I don't know if you would need this one for bass sounds. Btw you can mute the bass track.

What I like about this thing is that it can control my 404 via midi. Now making arranged songs with varying patterns is easier. Haven't made anything serious yet but I tested it works.

The dude in the video sure makes good use of this box.

hi
yes the roland d2 got some good synth wich can give some really good bass, but what i'm searching is one good drum machine to substitute my akai xr20 wich is good too, some cool bass, but not too pratic to tweak fx "live" (and it got only a reverb).
