I was wondering if anybody had any experience with these two little machines. I have read great reviews on them. I like the battery powered feature and was thinking on hookin up with the 404. I do mostly hip hop and was wondering how these units were for this. Or just how they perform in general??? Any knowledge would be great. Thanks

I got to play with a kaossilator a bit, and I dug it. The main issue is you only get 2 bars (4 if you do a hack that removes the undo function) and no save. So you basically have to be recording it or you're screwed when you shut it off. I dig being able to jam on the bus or what not (404 represent) but everything vanishing unless you leave it on (and kill the batteries) seems lame. The other thing is most of the sounds are pretty house/trancey. The MFX seems like a cure for that one though.

Speaking of sample work on the go, it would've been dope if Roland added a little speaker on the 404 since it has an internal mic. That would be complete stand alone sampler. I here that that Korg pads are nice, but why not just get a padkontrol and use the X-Y pad and drum pad triggers to control synths from your computer.

yeah it sucks no internal mic, but i've been thinking about getting a battery powered speaker or boom box with line-in and making some beats on the streets. you could get a friend to boom box and have a 2 man show. pass the hat!
