Bought it last week, played it about hour and half in a train. Actually, seems like nice little sampler mainly on the go. Some limitations, some compromises, so if you like to work with limitations and this workflow inspires you (like me), go for it. I don't notice 8 bit resolution here, it sounds great.

Just quick mix, I used only 2 samples, 6 patterns, 2 effects recorded directly to pattern, quite messy, not so much variations in drums, no intro, no outro etc.

To my ears, that didn’t sound 8 bit at all! I think I might order this sooner rather than later.

Thanks.
There is actually option to use different pitch / filter / volume settings on samples in drumslots, settings are recorded directly to pattern, when you change it, you have to rerecord pattern to store these settings. This means you can have different pitch / filter / volume settings in each note of one pattern. It's kind of plus (or minus - if you have rearrange whole pattern if you don't like sound settings of a sample)

Good to know, thing is pretty powerful for its size.

A little trick I do when using devices that quantize - leave a little air before the sample. I know it's not the same, but after you bang out your beat, melody or whatever, if you want to adjust the hits, just mess with the start point.
Again, I know it's not the same as bangin out the beat no quantize style, human feel & all that, but it's def a useful trick.

Just ordered one. Amazed with the beats that r coming out of this thing (mostly from ppl in the forum).

Looks fun for parties and what not. Also doesn't create too much attention if you were making a beat in public on the bus/train... would just look like you're doing your taxes or something lol

Assume the battery life on this thing is pretty good?

Battery life seems to be good. I use rechargeable batteries, haven't really paid attention to how many hours I get out of them, but it seemed like a long time. I went like 3 weeks w/o changing the batteries & I used it quite a bit, almost everyday & sometimes a few hours at a time. It doesn't power off either, it goes into sleep mode. I was actually impressed with the battery life.

Batteries last for quite a bit but when they go, like the 404sx, there gone. Just had to replace them from February so not bad at all, just started to randomly turn off.

from teenage website for metal series:
1 month battery life
2 year standby time

I realised that i enjoy to work with this thing way more than with my SP303...
SP303 for effects and chops, PO33 for main work and sequencing...

btw. backing up memory takes about 3 minutes.

What did you back it up too, haven’t tried it yet?

To my computer. It seem like it's just audionoise like backup from old days - Commodore64 games or Korg poly800 or Roland Alpha juno memory. But i didn't try to load recorded data to unit, Still trying to finish my first track and haven't done it yet. Then I can mess with storing/loading memory.

Saw some users having issues with restoring, seams like the factory drums can cause space errors. Not a deal breaker but a few had to do a work around. Somewhere in here is the issue:

Yeah, when batteries die, they die.
I was just sayin you can't turn the K.O. off. It goes into sleep mode. I should've said that separately :)

I wish the batteries would die like in a cassette walkman. Of how the sound slowly pitches down until it completely dies. Lol I remember listening to ODB and batteries had it pitched at at -20. Listened to the whole album like that.
