I'm just gonna say that the DJS-1000, is the dream Roland SP everyone been wanting.

All my issues with the SPs are answered with the DJS.

I know $1200 is a lot to cough up just to see what the hype is all about. But selling old and never used gear and coupons from musiciansfriend.com, brought my purchase down to $345 out of my pocket. Right now, this the only sampler I need. And thank God. I got tired of bouncing samples between two samplers.

There can only be one

What about the Toraiz? It looks great too, I watched a side by side comparison video they are pretty much the same instrument.

They are 90% identical, Toraiz ups the DJS though. It has 8 outs, 8GB of internal storage, Song Mode and the DS filters. The DJS has Live Sampling, Pad Modes and a slider. Both are powerful depending what you need, I chose the DJS-1000 because it looks dope and same height as my turntable and CDJ and gets to the point in production. The 2 outs are more than enough for me.

New update arrived too. Now each pad can sample up to 64 seconds and patterns have longer bars.

17 minutes total per project now 8)

Bugs were ironed out, the Hot Slice now stays off when I deactivate it. Before it lingered.

 Still a newb myself on the DJS but you CAN monitor the inputs and the device. So excuse that bit in my principal post.

Making a vid of making some boom bap on it. Posting soon.

Yo how do you monitor both, ive looked through the manual and futzed around with it and I still cant figure that out.

It seems I failed to mention how but here goes:

1-Go to Home Screen and hit a pad, preferably an empty pad.

2-Hit the corresponding pad on the touchscreen until you entered the Track Menu page.

3-To the upper left of the Track Menu screen, you'll see a box that reads Track Type, and reads SAMPLE as the selected source. Tap it on-screen until it opens a window to select your source.

4-The Track Type settings should read:SAMPLE, THRU, MIDI and TORAIZ AS-1. Select THRU and click the huge rotary knob to activate it.

5-Viola, now the Pad acts as an Ext. Source pad playing whatever hooked to its Inputs and you can listen to the DJS at the same time. :)

You can also layer FX to the external source and resample it.
