I was at my local pawn store to pick up my Electribe Er1mk2 and my Casio MT240. I spotted a Roland GAIA, and I just decided without even playing it just to put it down on layaway. For just $290, why the hell not? It will sound better than the Casio, there are free patches to dl from Roland, and I already know that the Novation UltraNova sounds better than the Gaia, but when you deal with pawn shops, it's sometimes just a bargain you spot. If I don't like it, I'd still keep it because my SP505 or ST224 could sample it for endless sounds. The only effects it seems to be needing is chorus, but there are effect units or guitar pedals that can do that if I really need chorus in a Gaia patch.

I kind of look at it as e decent entry level VA synth, nothing more or less. But it should be fun to mess around with. Just curious if any of you have or used to have one. Did it do the job for bass lines, leads, pads, appregios etc? I probably won't have it home until my birthday, but that's in two months, so I'm looking forward to sitting down with it later.

Nice bunch of knobs and sliders.

Dpeee uses this.

Check his el sereno tape I think it's the main piece for his bass sounds

in the same range, if knobs are not the main things, a microkorg is maybe better and better priced too.
a xiosynth is ok too, many knobs too, but i don't advice it -i got one- becaus is not well built (but very well sounding)
