Post subject:  Digital Multi Track Recorder

Yo, I want to finalize my home studio by adding a digital multi track recorder to record all my music into. I want it to have a compact flash card storage (any other famous cards can go as well) or better yet a hard drive. Plus it should have a CD-Rom drive to record CD's directly. And one more thing I want it to have at least 8 tracks with sliders like on a studio mixer. Size does not matter for me.

Can any one help me out and point me in the right direction. What are your preferences in this area?

Thanks,
Olby

I have a Fostex Mr-8 that's pretty dope and I asked a guy who is an engineer with a great knowledge of gear and told me that The Fostex digital mt probably give the biggest bang for the buck.
But you could always look for a classic Roland vs-1680 with the other great choices that you already have.
my 0,02$

Yo, that Roland vs is great. I will dig for it in the ebay.

I have a question about these digital multitracks actually, can any of them do the digital equivalent of the "Pitch" wheel on a tape recorder? U know, just turning the wheel to speed up or slow the whole thing down? preferably without making all those weird digital distortions

I can only speak for my MR-8 but I don't think it does that and I'm not sure if digital recorders do that.I read that when Madlib take on the Lord Quas persona,he raps real slow to tape then up the pitch.
I could be wrong though
Yeah,Olby,a fully expanded Vs-1680 or 880(that should be affordable) is classic and should fill your needs bro

I'd love a digital multitrack but i do so much pitchshifting on my tape thing, and I dont have enough room on my desk for both lol
