Oi JBL, if you haven't already don't forget to check out the resources here:
GO-P1<- their v1.3 manual is waaay more informative & less narrative than the TE manual. Plenty of other goodies in there too.
Ohpeewon has some good Q&A too.

*EDIT* Redundant advice, just noticed you're already posting on Ohpeewon & probably all over GO-P1.

I'm digging on zulumonk right now. I think he's in Seattle. I would like to buy him a beer. And of course, major kudos to iceritchie!
You passing on that offer unfolding? It's all good, I'll just sell here and put ¥¥¥ towards a new synth(or a sp-404sx but do I really need it, maybe not). I'm actually not the biggest analog fan, though the monotribe intrigues me. But for now the op-1 and der oto serve me well.

It is sick, lots of fun but I rarely get anything done when I play with it. Story of my hobby life though, lol.

^exactly. The synths aren't there but you can import/sample them and spread across the keys. The sequencer is a single track but very versatile and you can record line out which is a big step in making loops. Actually recording stuff in time is super easy as well. When I bought it though, it wasn't that cheap. I bought it the week it came out($600). But just don't have time for it now.

Ironically, my op-1 was cheaper than my microsampler.

Oh wow haha!

I mean the OP-1 has a very strong own character that you can pick out quite easily. It's a bit limited and has only one lfo I believe. It is much much more than just a plain synth. It is a sampler and a mini daw. It has a line in and everything. If that's what you want then definitely get this. If you just need a synth go with something else.

if i was gonna spend op-1 money i'd get live 9 with push. or the roland ms-20. i'm a hardware dude but the hardware i got is straight other than vinyl which is straight but i like to re-up at least 25 records a month.

With the money I'd spend on an OP-1 I could buy an enourmous stack of vinyl and keep recording to tape and be happy as hell with the dope results.
I've seen some videos of the OP-1 in use and it looks neat. But it ain't worth all that.

Yeah those are good^
Not knocking on other styles here. Just making a suggestion. Why not start another thread about what you found and why you like it. It's cool and all, I've had some massive analogs in the past but didn't get on with them all that well. In all honesty, can you carry around 25 vinyls, a mono/poly or even ableton push (with computer) and make a beat on the bus, in the hotel, at your gramma's,etc...?
Again, it's cool. But this kind of hate is a bummer and why most of us OG's just stop in for a minute and leave. In any case, say what you want just remember there is this button for starting new topics and in this case would probably have been more relevant.
Peace
Edit; fwiw I was saying they can be had cheap used as an addition to your arsenal, if you read the whole thing. I have vinyl. I'll be getting a ms-20 as it looks like they're gonna be only 400 here in Japan and if I wanted I could get loads of old j-synths on the low but as space is a valuable thing here I probably won't.

As far as overall sound characteristic, I much prefer listening to raw, lo-fi grit as opposed to a computer-y, digital sound bit.
I'm fond of the vinyl to sampler to tape methodology of beat making.

I think it's ill that the technology available enables someone to download some sounds and mess around with a portable device while on the go. I won't knock someone for getting creative in that way. And some of the results are worth listening to a couple times.

It's just not the type of production that I'd like to have a tangible piece of music in my collection.

That's cool. Actually, it's quite gritty sometimes more than people want. Plus it's a sampler/4-track. But anyway, I'm starting to sound like a fanboy; which I'm not. If you got the space and money for endless vinyl I envy you. Mine stacks up but I rarely find the sound I want, so I've been moving away from that.
Tbh, I really want to like analog but I always seem to move in a digital direction and I really don't know why. But I love analog filters, tape echo and the like. Just give me a struthi or virus over a JX-8p or mono/poly anyday
