does anyone have one has hardware? or use one on software...
i am under the impression you put any sample through one of these and it syncopates it under parameters you set and that sounds really useful for making samples fit into grooves... any info?
??

I know oscillators in general are mechanisms to modulate a sound wave (like on a proper synth-especially analog). There are so many crazy plugins out- I'm sure there are many that oscillate one thing or another.
If the sample is not fitting in da groove I don't think this is the best tool, I'd recommend using a hardware sampler that can do micro-pitch tuning OR software that can do quality time-compression.

Using an Osc is an old way to sequence synth drum sounds. I posted a video somewhere on here of a guy doing this very thing with an ms2000.

the idea is based on taking a sample that has a very consistant waveform, like not very drastic peaks and then syncopating it to fit into whatever drumbeats ive got. basically im thinking an oscillator might be like a more controlable or more useful "slicer" effect

OR showing up at the home of the original artists that played the sample with a 4-Track & a flame-thrower and demanding they replay the phrase to the desired tempo!*
