I totally didnt know this thing did mute groups. Im reading through the manual like "get the fuck out of here". this thing is cool as hell and i aint even made a song yet. that 4 voice poly is gonna be a bitch tho but mute groups are cool as hell. and trimming is done it numbers which aint that bad either. I didnt like trimming with the 555 having to move the dial and hit trim like twice to move the values even more. this thing is working in the thousands to trim the samples samples, if that makes sense.
the pitch and time stretch are how they are supposed to be, like how they shoulda been on the 555. how in the hell does a company make one machine really good then screw up on the newer versions. you'd think they were building towards something, like THE BEST MACHINE EVER.
gotta get back to work

and this mother fucker got like a million effects patches, its insane. they said nothing about this in the reviews. resampling with effects is as easy as all the other sp's but its a ton of effects and you can change parameters on-screen using the knobs or going into each effect and affecting things even deeper. im sittin here creaming in my pants like dayuum! for this thing for 191 bucks on ebay, they sell cheap cause everyone is complaining about the zip disk whine (which i havent heard yet) and you can edit your tracks visually but you cant edit samples visually, but if you record your sample to the audio track you can edit it there then sample it to a pad so its like whatever, just one more step. fuck it. im tell you dudes, dont sleep. mute groups, very good pitch and time stretch, an insane amount of effects, auto trim is pretty dam good, sample in a drum and it gets rid of the silence, auto divide chope out the silences inbetween my samples so i can get 16 pads full easy by playing 16 sounds and leaving a gapo of silence between em. and they got a divide command which i can set mark points(regions) and it will chop me up depending on where my regions are. DAYUUM!!! day 2 is coming right now, time to actually make something.

thanks anyway, i was reading this even before my 808 came in. resampling is cool but i like having everything spread open on separate tracks. just tonight i set my studio up nicely. got a laptop and a desktop so i got my laptop running fruityloops with all my samples and breaks, and reason with the nice synths running with a midi controller and the output goes to my 808. so i can sample and resample my sounds with effects n shit, get a quick groove going in the 4 track, then send everything to the desktop in cubase so i can see everything and eq as necessary. theni like to play live with the 808 till i get something going, sample that in, then i play the pad recording into cubase and layer like a mofo. just hooked that shit up and i think im finally satisfied with a workflow. i hate workarounds. they distract me too much, i need a way to record everything in an instand and keep it separate so i can tweak everything separately whenever.
sorry for the rant, im just all excited.

you can apply effects to a whole track on the mixer (good for vocals). i also think its strange its the only sp ive used that allows 3 pads to be hit when resampling instead of two. the isolater is also very strong, much better than the 404s (especially since there are multiple isolaters depending on the situation) love how i can add delay to only the high end or low end and its pretty accurate

yeah man this thing is interesting. its weird how every mpc that came out only got better like the 200 to the 200xl has time stretch and the 1000 can resample its output. but the sp's are all over the place. each one doesnt do something that an older one does. roland is fuckin weird. but im glad i got an 808 cause rolands machines are mostly about the effects and the workflow.
i got a question you might be able to answer.
when im resampling with effects i always have to set my fx loc to ins. record instead of send return to get the full effect. but that changes the master fx loc. so when i stop resampling and go back to playing around with effects i gotta go back to the master section and change the fx loc mact to ins. master. its like a back and forth thing. kinda gay, was wondering if there is something im missing. tho i have figured out how to resample with effects, all the button pressing is a little extracirricular.

dammit. Was hoping you had something good. screw it. Still a cool machine. And howd they go from the dbeam on the 808 to the piece of shit on all the other machines. This thing can go from side to side for separate effects. i had a 555 and that dbeam was garbage. roland is a fucking mess.
