I wanna say that I found a great info https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=31086

If you follow the conversation , one guru there suggest that it can be done with a older hard drive, but you would have to put the hard drive in a pc first open it with DOS and rewrite some code to something similar to that of a Zip Drive.

But the thread died out and no one ever attempted it sadly.

I did throw down $25 bucks for CF reader that was supposed to work with the 808 but someone else said they tried and it didn't work. But I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Hi,
Anyone able share the A-6 OS file?

It may help with the efforts to solve this zip drive dilemma. I don't see the A-6 listed on Roland sites, do they want to forget it existed?
cheers!

A6 was Edirol not Roland, that may help track it down.

So I was wondering if any of you have experience actually installing an mpc 2000xl card reader into an sp808ex...

Is it easy to do the hookup?

Any other parts/conversations required?

Finally, does it require me to download a different operating system?

Thank you! Long time sp808ex owner (with all the hardware upgrades) yet new to the forum.

P.S. the dude in the previously posted video seemed very satisfied with the results of his "blue mpc 2000xl" drive installation fwiw.

if your on the og 808 then you'll have to update to the ex os first.

all the screws and cabling will work with the mpc card drive, it's one for one.
