Folks,

Just bought an SP808 and the chap insisted it all worked fine. I realise these are old machines so not sure if im pissing in the wind

When it boots it goes to the home screen but then theres no functionality in the machine whatsoever. The buttons have zero effect

It has had an OS update to EX and the zips provided are still the 100mb ones. There is an audible click about 10 or so seconds after inserting a zip. Is the drive the problem? Can it be replaced?

I ran a diagnostic on the drive and despite inserting a disk, it just displays the 'enter a disk' instruction.

Am i right in thinking there would be no functionality if the machine wasnt reading the disk?

Any info would be a great help.

If you purchased it off Ebay, I'd just return to avoid the headache.

Or you can pick up an ide zip drive for $8 off ebay and switch it out. Its very easy. Thats if you can't get your money back from the Ebay seller or at least get him to buy the zip drive and send it to ya
