Heyy,

I am new to the forums and do not know if this is the correct thread to be posting this question I have about my new SP-303.

I'm trying to find instruments (drums, snares, hi-hats, the stuff you get from Ableton Live Instruments). Is there a website where I can download these for free? or would it be smarter to just purchase a software that has these such as ABleton?

I've heard of chopping up samples for the instruments but I find that it takes too long to do that.

Bottom line, you should really learn to chop samples. It will greatly improve your ability to manipulate other samples as well, all of which is integral to learning sample compositions. That being said, there's a large collection of drums samples etc. in the library section of this site. You can also buy great drum samples from Goldbaby.

yeah get them off cds, vinyl, youtube, wherever... there are more unique sounds to be found anywhere than if you constrain yourself to sample packs and other prefab stuff.
if you need loose drum hits, just search for a torrent of drum samples on isohunt or any other torrent site.

Listen to records, it wont take long to find drums whether it's single shots or a 2 bar break.

I agree with those above.
- to be honest you do have the option with a SM card,. copy samples from live or whatever.. But if i was you id give the chopping a try, - once you get it in your fingers you wont want to copypaste "others" shits again.. :D

Very true. It becomes a habit you don't ever want to break.

But if you must, theres tons of sample and loop sites out there. Some free, most paid.

get your drums off wax bruh. you want to sound original, not like a clone, right? you already got a 303, so you know that much, and knowing is half the battle
