So as you all know the 303 in pattern mode is done manually unlike the 404.And sometimes i notice when u switch in between patterns theres a blip or sometimes if u dont hit the pad with perfect timing it sounds sloppy.
Anyways i think i discovered a workaround to make shit sound smoother.
Lets say u have a 4 bar pattern on pad 1,make that your main pattern.then for the other patterns make them 5 bars long but only record 4 bars long.what i noticed is when your switching in between patterns the reason we get that sloppyness or blip sound is that the last note is gettin sliced in so to say.So i hope this helps cats out i dont know i could be trippin but i tried it today and so far shit is soundun good!
peace

That's a very creative work around, you must be a ninja on the 303.

you have to press the sub pad button.but on the 303 the patterns dont flow to gether like the 404.as soon as you select your pattern it switches.so sometomes it can be a pain in the ass!

this might be a total beginner question but i don't have the manual nearby at the moment...

is it possible to trigger PATTERNS via MIDI IN?

e.g. hooking up the sp-303 to a sequencer (logic) and having logic tell the 303 when to play which pattern?

thanks!

nope. you could however just make patterns in logic and trigger the 303's pads/samples via midi.

true but i just like working on the 303, without computer and shit, you know?

too bad that doesn't work, would have been a wicked way to arrange the 303 beats tight without late/early patterin triggering... ;)

thanks for your help!

hey i just want to say thanks for the tip. thinking about it totally make sense now. i hate timing to switch the pattern right before it loops back from the start.

i'm so glad i joined this forum. i've been an SP addict for a while now, and finally starting realizing the power of the internet (i know that i'm behind on technology, but then again, this may be why i love SPs). this tip is exactally what i was looking for. hello choppiness, goodbye sloppiness. thank you!
