Hey there, new to the forum and joined to ask about this, hope I can get some help!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTFQ__Yyx9o

I've seen the above video already but things are not playing ball on this end!

I'm a real noob with cables and hooking shit up so I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly how to get the SP working for the effects with Maschine when I have

Laptop
Maschine
SP 303
Focusrite Scarlett

I have had the SP hooked up but for some reason only the vinyl sim seems to have any effect on the sounds from Maschine at all, and the volume level is rather weak.

Anyone know what might be wrong???

If anyone could give me a proper noob level guide of exactly what to plug where it would be well appreciated, really want to get this working.

Sorry for the stupid question!

(ot, calling the 303 a "vintage sampler" sounds very inappropriate...then an sp1200 form Emu is what, a dinosaur....? : ) )

What are you trying to achieve? The signal flow in the video is:

Turntable out -> SP in
SP out -> Interface in
Interface out -> Speakers

This allows you to process your turntable's signal before you sample it in Maschine (e.g. sample your drum loop on vinyl with the lo-fi effect).

But your post sounds more like you want to process the Maschine's signal.

Option 1: Route all through the SP:

Interface out -> SP in
SP out -> Speakers

Option 2: Resample the Maschine through the SP
You will need an interface with at least two outputs for this to work. I don't know if the Scarlett has this.

Interface out1 -> SP in
SP out -> Interface in1
Interface out2-> Speakers

In Maschine you have to select external source and input 1 in the sample screen. Make sure that input 1 is routed to the correct input of your interface (Preferences -> Audio -> Routings)

I'm not good at explaining things so I hope this helps you in some way.

Thanks that option one seems the most plausible for me, will give it a go. Some one suggested the option 2 method for me elsewhere but it seems you are right and the audio interface I am using isnt suitable.

Which one is it? This: https://focusrite.de/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-2i2 ?
For option 2 you could disconnect your speakers and use headphones while resampling the SP.

Yes! Option 1 worked! Great, thanks!!

Still have to record into the SP for this method but it working nonetheless.

The Focusrite I have is the 2i4, when I was going to the routing settings on previous days only 2 options were appearing. Oddly its now 4, so I'll give option 2 a try here ASAP also.
