Hey guys, I'm new here. My first question happens to be about the 303 pattern sequencer. I'm transitioning from a memory-less 202 that I've been using for a few months and I recently upgraded to the 303. I like the idea of attempting the use the pattern sequencer but I've took seven days straight toying around with it -- and I haven't made much progress. I can't really pinpoint my problem exactly, so I'll list some the scenarios I'm experiencing right now.

First off: is it possible to edit the length of a pattern than by whole measures? Sometimes I would like to trim down/subtract a pattern to avoid hearing a pause during the loop. Is there a way around this and pattern in sync? I tried adjusting BPMS and such to match the pattern's BPM but no luck. I've been browsing the manual for help as well, it's not helping so much. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

usually when i can't get the sample's bpm to match with the pattern bpm its cause the sample isn't actually 2 or 4 bars. if i adjust the pattern length to 3 or 5 (or 7) measures then the sample will play out until the end of the pattern

so you're saying -- for example, lets say you happen to chop a sample on various pads that are all different bpms and lengths. you decide to make a pattern. the desired length pattern you want is like 3 1/2 but you can only set the length to like 3 or 4. what would you do? would you attempt to adjust your timing to make it exactly 3 or 4 measures? if it patterns happens to be too short you'll get an unnecessary pause/silence at the end of it.

yeah man you can't really do 1/2 measures. but i don't really get why you're trying to do that cause wouldn't that kind of be impossible for someone to rap over? if you're stuck with 3 1/2 bars i would bump up the pattern to 4 bars and find a sample to trigger to fill up that last 1/2 bar

what about changing the bpm setting? -- do you just toy with it or adjust it to the bpm of a certain pad/s. thanks by the aiding me in trying to figure this out by the way.

if you have a 3 1/2 bar pattern you could make it 7 bars and retrigger the sample halfway through the 3rd bar, some simple math like that can make shit work, although tryin to mess with some 21 bar pattern cause you have a 5 1/4 bar loop is a fuckin headache, maybe for some complex stuff like that you might want a combination of resampling and pattern work, and if you are still rockin the 202, sample pieces of half done patterns and bounce shit between the machines, remark, and then build playing live or resampling, just gotta use your imagination and figure out ways to make things work
