Hello! I'm new to SP303.
I'll try to explain my trouble step by step.
I press the rec pattern, set length 2 and quantize 8 and record main samples.
then I record 8 drums samples 1/4 bar length over it (set quantize 4).
When thse samples is recorded I 'll try to record 1 long sample (which length less then 1 bar) at start of the pattern, quantize4 is set too, but the sample plays shorter than real length approx 1/4 bar I think. All the samples in stereo. Gate,Loop and other is turned off.
I'm very dissapointed with that and think that my SP is broken.
Anyone who understand what I mean and know what the problem PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like a polyphony issue.. Try resampling some pads in mono

hey man, the 303 only has a polyphone thats 8 or 4 .thats means it can only play a certain amount of samples at a time .so when theres to much stuff going on it cuts something out , too much data.

I realized what was happening. My samples have a tail of stereo silence after resampling. I just need to truncate the samples and correct BPM to remove the imposition.
Thanks guys!!!!

You can play a maximum of 8 voices at a time. A stereo sample is two voices, right and left. A mono sample is one voice.

4 stereo samples = 8 voices
8 mono samples = 8 voices
3 stereo + 2 mono samples = 8 voices
2 stereo + 4 mono samples = 8 voices
1 stereo + 6 mono samples = 8 voices

polyphony is a pain at first. When I got my first SP 2 months ago, I was used to never worry about it. I always used stereo samples in a DAW. Got used to it and now, I like the fact that I have to think about which effects I want to keep in stereo.

I found sometimes when I hit the limit and the 303 starts skitzin out if I turn it off for a couple seconds and turn it on again it corrects itself. Its seems like blowing on an NES cartridge lol.
