So I'm still learning to use my 303, I like the way it works and I've already made some fat sounding loops etc. I'm just not yet at the stage where I hook up a whole song on there. I wanted to find out what you guys usual work flow is. What stages (just talking generally) do you go through to get to a finished beat, and how do you think about arranging it on the machine?

Just resamle instead of using the sequencer. Play your resampled patterns in order to another pad and or to a computer, a multitrack, or to another sampler. That's it. You will find that resampling total loops is good for your constitution.

You get unlimited amounts of respect for the Rammellzee photo!

I used to use the 303 on its own, had a lot of fun with it too..Never really fully got into the resampling to sequence beats, I quite enjoyed the simplicity of the sequencer and sequencing without the ability to fix everything or nit pick at the little mistakes I'd make..At the moment I'm using it with the 2000xl, sample everything in the 303 make all my chops, use the effects, lay down basic ideas and then sample everything out...

Enjoy the 303 man, you'll have solid fun rockin it

j. canuck, you make an interesting point about the laying down basic ideas on the 303. Im trying to figure out what to do with my mpc 1000 and 404. I get the whole sample and chop and get a basic idea, what i get stuck on is the tediousness of taking those chops into the 1000. Is there a simpler way of taking the basic idea and transfering that into the 1000. I could record into it like an 8 track but for some reason, when i record audio tracks, i dont get a perfect loop. Even when i record everything on point, when i loop it back there is always a weird gap in the beginning or end of the loop that i cant seem to get rid off.
You mind explaining that process a bit more. Are you recording the basic beat into the mpc to a pad or do you just sample all the components of the beat into the mpc and remake the beat?
Thanks in advance.

You can use a 128 or lower card. Export the samples onto the card. Put that card in the mpc and your samples are on the card. Just assign them to the mpc pads.

not a bad idea. Be even better if they both used cf cards.

Anyone using Reaper with the 303? About to experiment with this. Just using 303 to lay down stuff and Reaper to store/track/arrange my stuff.

i'm trying to study reaper seriously in the last few days, but not with the 303
mpd24 + various plugins
interesting DAW/multitrack
works really good with the controller (with no latency)
seems really stable, no crash occured in many hours of usage also with an old laptop pc (with a pentium3 processor)
i want to record some shit with the 303 into reaper ASAP
recording some 202 shit into reaper tonight with some friends
soon i will post the results of the session here
