so i havent messed around with my sp 303 yet. it came with a 64 bit memeory card and the charger. so i neeed an rca cable? and a card adaptor to hook it up to my computer? In other words how do I incorporate it with my laptop/ ableton live 8?

you might want to loop up the 303 and your computer so the 303 is going out to live and live is going back into the computer at the same time. i do this with garageband (+404) and i like the setup. i also have a turntable going into my 404 with the computer through a mixer and its set up so you can monitor either the computer or the sp. so if you're recording into live from the 303 make sure to set 'monitor on' on the recording track in live, but have the 303's external source button off to avoid a feedback loop. also if you have a velocity sensitive midi controller you can play stuff in live running the sound into the 303 so its almost like your 303 has velocity. i have a card reader but never use it

He recorded them directly into the machine using the RCA inputs. I've got tons of wav files on my computer but choose to sample them into the machine rather than import them. It's more fun that way :)

yeah yo straight up. i like chopping in the sp with the mark button. but if i already chopped the beat in garageband why not just trigger the samples in there with my midi controller? i don't see the point wasting time exporting. the sound is all running through the sp anyway so i can still do vinyl sim or whatever...

this is weird.
where do you exactly connect sp303 rca, to the pc's IN (mic in) or to the soundcard in (if you got one)? in any case nothing has to be recgnisable in matter of audio, if it was usb it was different...do you run win7?

i have win7 (and an asus laptop pc) and it alert me everytime i plug/unplug things, i don't know for vista, but when i used winxp nothing were alert...what you have to do is to check you mic in's audio via control panel and see what happens.
what audio software do you use also?

it's not that difficult.
the chain is:sp303 out>compressor in>compressor out>pc in then check the win mic on the preferences (normally it has to be recognisable yet by preset), arm the track (see if it's on "ext in") and you will hear the sound...
