hi everybody!
Now i'm in waiting for my 303 from ebay.
i used to work on mpc 2000 and i want to work on it as sequencer and 303 as fx.
So that's the question, how to commute these ones?

thanks.

Midi out from mpc2k to midi in on the sp303. Make sure the mpc and SP are both sending/receiving midi data on the same midi channel. Be sure to not have your pads set to loop mode on the SP and you should be good to go.

sp/mpc combo is dynamite. First had the 303/2000 but now im on the 202/404/2000xl and they make great teams... Never understood all that midi ish though... I do all my sampling, chopping, effects and planning on the sp then i sample everything in to the xl, finetune my chops, layer my drums and sequence... Its amazing

EXT SOURCE and use an RCA to whatever (1/8" for most interfaces?) should let you record pretty easily.

MP (any) + SP (most) is a doooope music combo. Master both and the very building blocks of the universe are in your hands. Muhahaha.

Ras G is one of my faves who uses the 2000/303 combo like exclusively. Dibiase / Dollar D is on that same tip isn't he?

I still find Ras G to be some of the most overrated shit I've ever heard.

Thas a shame, I can't get enough of the guy. Stylistically he pulls a LOT from Sun Ra so if you can't get down with space jazz then I could see his style being a little obtuse. I've been noddin to his EP with Black Monk all week.

perhaps over my head, cus I can't seem to get it bobbin' when listening to his beats. I am a huge fan of Sun Ra by the way. Just because someone samples from a dope source doesnt make their shit dope as well.

I honestly haven't listened to all that much just abstract beats or whatever its called and I wasn't all that impressed. To be fair I borrowed a vol 1&2 from my brother so in gonna listen to that and try to let it change my opinion. Be back soon with the verdict.

ahh for sure. Beats & The Abstract Truth is a mix CD with his and other ppl's music but still dope. You could check out Beats of Mind, Brotha from Anotha Planet, Ghetto-Scifi and more if you want more solo work.

This one is called Beat Soup vol 1&2. It's kinda cool. It's def better than the previous stuff I heard. I really could do without the airhorn sample I constantly hear on a lot of these beat tapes. This was used throughout a lot of both 1&2. I'm not a big fan of remixes but I liked the Theodore Unit one and the MC Lyte one. It wasn't as bad as I expected but I can't say that I was really impressed either.
