Ahh shit, it seems like I've been duped again. Seems I'm missing out on the goods since I have yet to hear one his actual albums.

I use the SP-202 & SP-303 along with the ASR-10 and I get nothing but top notch sounds!

Ras G is dope. His solo work is definitely better than the mix stuff. After a while all that "LA beats" stuff seems to sound the same. I'm not knocking it in the least but I don't see what the hype is all about. Dilla created and originated it, Madlib mastered and expanded upon it, and cats like FlyLo, Samiyam, and Ras G are making waves with their takes on that specific sound.

It seems like that un-quantized sound is everywhere in the underground scene these days just as that Will.I.Am/David Guetta sound is all over hip-pop and contemporary R & B.

I tend to be unbiased toward a lot of the above mentioned. I love me some(only some) Dilla and like Madlibs older stuff(exception of SAS). I never hear anyone talking about people like Exile, who made a "beat tape" with nothing but samples off of the radio. Maybe if he used a 303 he may be more popular in here?

I looked up some of Ras G's stuff on Youtube(not his mix stuff) and like a lot off it.

I changed my mind.

@Dorkus - I think most people in here probably know and appreciate Exile, I think he's the shit. On ANOTHER level that most people don't even attempt to reach. Seeing him live is just insane lol. And on top of it, he's one of the most humble, nicest dudes I've ever met given his skill. In my top 10 for sure.

Aw I bet. I've never met him but I have seen him in interviews and you can tell he is very humble. His album Radio is easily my favorite "beat tape" if that's what you want to call it. Genius and a very chill listen.
