hey guys, i have used many hardware samplers over the years (mpc2000, sp1200, etc) and just got myself an sp303. i find it very intuitive and am having alot of fun with it but one thing baffles me. if the machine can only play 8 samples at one time, then why the need for so many sample banks?

i understand it is good to have spare pads for resampling onto, but other than that i don't get it.

thanks!

It was mostly meant to be for dj's who wanted quick fx/samples/loops, not a workstation like the machines you mentioned. There are tricks to get around around the max. polyphony

thanks for your reply.
i think alot of people (including myself) have to remind themselves every now and then that the 303 wasn't intended to be a production tool and thus, shouldn't get mad at it when you can't do this and that. 8)
