I ordered a 202 (dirtcheap) it will be availabe this evening. Now I already own a 303 and thought it would be a nice addition when I ordered it.

Honestly I'm wondering what the hell I should do with it at the moment. I get the idea it's super limited and will sit somewhere and collect dust after a few tries. Then again maybe hooked up on the 303's ext-in I can use it as some sort of a drummachine.

I wonder though if the standard (not lo-fi) sound of the 202is similar tot the 303?

And is the 202 handy as an FX unit hooked on to the dj mixer when I play a gig for instance.

Feedback's, experiences are welcome.

I've been using mine nonstop for years.. I bought it in May 2005 and it has been a staple in my work. I use it side by side with a 404 so I will resample drum sounds or anything else that I might want to run through the filtering or lo fi setting. The ring mod and the delay sound cool and the pitch and time are indispensable

all of the 202 samples just get bounced to the 404 after processing

You'll have pitch effect with the 202 and you can resample into the 303 for a grungy lo-fi effect (like to dirty down drum sounds).

the pitch is yet a good quality you don't have on the 303, good point....

I also noticed that ,If you archive drum sounds like me ,on tape, if you resample them with a 404, you get more tape noise than when you resample with the 202, as contradictory as it may sound. It's awesome to beef up drum sounds.

That's awesome to hear.

I didn't get a powerchord with it. Tried the 303 adapter.. not working. But with batteries it did turn on and seemed to work. No time yet to really get it crackin' I thought the 303 and 202 had similar voltage/power specs. Hopefully there are n issues with the power socket.

I read alot about the pitch.. No timestretch I believe? The 303 pitch is useless imo.

Looking forward to start utilizing it alongside the 303.

the fx chain was:
monotron > rc-20xl > delay pedal > sp-303 (mic in)
sp-202 > sp-303 (rca l-r in)

the 202 got time-stretch.
and
yes, the 303 pitch is almost useless, it also cuts some high frequencies of the original sound, i don't know why.

I've owned a 202, 303, and 404 multiple times. I tried to do 202 only beats with just a tape recorder, but I couldn't do it. God Bless you guys that flip crazy stuff with just that method, but I need the ability to resample to a pad for my work flow. The 202 as a sidekick to a 303 or 404 could be very valuable though. If you feel like the sound, pitch, time stretch, filters are worth it, then keep the 202 also. The 303 can resample with EXT. Source so you can do some crazy things with the 202 & 303 combo.

Any 2 different SPs somehow compliment each other. No matter which 2 you combo together, you can keep your ideas flowing with all the pads, knobs and effects. I currently own a 505, but I have my mind on scooping up a 555 to rock with it! I'm not looking for the 202's or 303's right now, but if the right deal came along, I wouldn't rule it out. Point I'm making is, using 2(or more?? ) SP's is fun, and you can really mess with your samples as you bounce them back n forth.

Most of the time I use the 202 its just to make beats using just the 202. I don't know why, but its so limited that I find it incredibly fun. If I use it with the 404 its to pitch and change the tempo of samples, which it is just a beast at doing.

Yes..the pitch and the time stretch are golden. I sold mine like an idiot so now I have to use the ms-1 with the 303 to do that which isn't a terrible thing I guess.

i use my 202 to cut loops. i like to find really good sounds and just slow them down...

i also like to use it during my dj sets as a source of one shots.

i'll load up the dilla siren and any other relevant micro samples that i could sprinkle over my dj sets.
